13. Al Horford, Forward/Center, 2007-16

Now a member of the competitive Boston Celtics, veteran forward Al Horford was a key cog in the glory days of the Atlanta Hawks from 2008-2016. He made four All-Star appearances in 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2016.

With their own version of a Big 3, Atlanta was never able to get over the hump.

Horford was named to the All-Rookie first team in 2007-08, averaging 10.1 points and 9.7 rebounds on 49.9 percent shooting from the field. Efficient shooting became Horford’s biggest strength as he shot over 50 percent in seven consecutive seasons following his rookie year.

He made consecutive All-Star appearances from the 2009-11 seasons. In the 2009-10 season, he averaged 14.2 points per game to make his first All-Star appearance. The next season, his scoring went up to 15.3 points per contest. He made All-NBA third team in 2010-11, showing his impact as a big man who can stretch the opposing defense.

Injuries slowed him down from 2011-14 but he was back to his All-Star form by the 2014-15 season. He produced 15.2 points per game from 2014-16 and made another two All-Star appearances with Atlanta.

The Hawks posted a record of 60-22 and made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2015. A 4-0 sweep by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers dashed any hopes of a title. The next postseason, they were swept again by the Cavaliers, which triggered Horford’s departure in free agency to the Celtics.

Horford ranks 13th all-time in Atlanta franchise history in total points (8,288) showing that his work on the glass had its advantages. He recorded seven games with 30 points or more as a member of the Hawks. He’ll go down as one of the best scoring stretch-4’s in team history as a 53.5 percent career shooter.
