A discussion of the difference-makers on the court for the Atlanta Hawks versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.

For the second time this season, the Atlanta Hawks bested the Minnesota Timberwolves in overtime. The Hawks have only played two overtime games this entire season – both of which are wins against the Wolves. The NBA is funny, man.

This was a scintillating affair in which neither side played a lot of defense. As is often the case this season for the Hawks, they gave up a 40-point quarter to an opponent this time right out of the gate.

All night, the team had no answer for Karl-Anthony Towns, who is one of the best offensive centers in the NBA (if not the best). However, the rest of Minnesota’s squad left a lot to be desired on the more glamorous end while also allowing a bunch of easy buckets for the Hawks.

The Wolves led for much of this game, but momentum had shifted by the end of the 4th quarter, and the Hawks capitalized on a gassed Wolves squad. John Collins saved his best for the 4th quarter, as he poured in 18 points to help snatch the momentum away from Minny.

Beyond that, the Hawks shot a scalding 41.4 percent from long range and 84.4 percent from the line – capitalizing on a lot of easy points – particularly from Trae Young.

Let’s look at the best performers on the night from the Hawks.
