Rough Night From 3

Atlanta has quietly been on fire from deep since all the All-Star break, shooting 41% in the 7 games since. That ranks 3rd in the league over that time period. They weren’t able to match tonight, despite getting some good looks.

Only 13 of their 43 attempts went in tonight (their 7th most attempts in a game this season), for a percentage of 30%. Just their 4th time since the end of 2018 they’ve shot 30% or less.

The usually great rookie combo of Huerter and Young combined to go just 2 for 13, while Kent Bazemore (2-6) and Jaylen Adams (1-4) also struggled to find their shot.

Once again missed Dedmon, who missed tonight with a knee injury, in this department. BJ Johnson, who made 3 of his 4 attempts in his first 2 career games, didn’t make a big appearance in the 10-man rotation tonight, playing just a minute. He could have at least attempted to turn the tide from deep.

The Spurs shot 30% as well (10-33) but did much more damage inside the arc, shooting 49% from the field overall compared to just 39% for Atlanta.

A down night for one of the brightest aspects of this Hawks team on the year.
