A few takeaways from what was a scintillating game at State Farm Arena for the Atlanta Hawks against the Brooklyn Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets completed a three-game season sweep against the Atlanta Hawks last night by the narrowest of margins – a two-point victory with the Hawks getting a chance to steal one with the final shot.

The Hawks kept it close for much of the second half after the Nets had carried a 56-47 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Nets used a balanced scoring attack as well as an absolute avalanche of fouls from the Hawks to take this one on the road.

The Nets need every game they can get as they attempt to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference despite the toughest remaining schedule in the NBA. The Hawks, to their credit, have the third-toughest schedule in the NBA, which should help their draft position.

This was a very exciting game, especially in the fourth quarter when neither team could really stop the other and both Trae Young and John Collins feasted on a rather thin Nets defense.

However, the Hawks couldn’t stop the Nets either, and Brooklyn had seven players score in double figures, including four players with 15 points or more.

Let’s explore the takeaways from this heartbreaking loss.
