Takeaways from a competitive Atlanta Hawks loss to the Boston Celtics.

Looking for their 25th win to surpass their total from last season, the Atlanta Hawks traveled to New England to take on the playoff-bound Celtics.

They were also looking to avoid a 4 game sweep to the hands of Kyrie and company, and despite a valiant comeback effort, Atlanta fell 129-120.

Boston’s lead swelled to 25 in the 3rd, but a 28-6 run by the young Hawks cut it to a 3-point game with 7 minutes to play. The comeback bid ran out of gas, but it was still a good look for the team to not roll over and fight back.

Trae Young, led the team with 26 points and John Collins added his daily double-double with 20 and 11, adding a team high 6 assists as well. Vince Carter put up 16 points off the bench.

Kyrie Irving was the man holding it down for the stacked Celtics bunch, he was an assist away from a triple-double with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. He was a thorn in the Hawks’ side all season, averaging 24 a game on 50% shooting in the team’s 4 matchups.
