#3. Phoenix Suns – Ja Morant

With the 3rd overall pick, the Phoenix Suns will finally get their point guard of the future by selecting Ja Morant out of Murray State. Morant is a spectacular athlete who produced an impressive amount of incendiary dunks during the season:

However, beyond that insane athleticism, Morant is actually a terrific ballhandler with excellent court vision and stellar passing ability, which to led to him leading the NCAA in assists this season with 331 as well as in assists per game at 10.

For Suns fans, think about this delicious starting unit next year: Deandre Ayton at center, T.J. Warren at power forward, Mikal Bridges at small forward, Devin Booker at shooting guard and Morant at the point. Man, that’s a fun team!

Though Warren’s injury status was concerning to end the year, as he didn’t play in a game after late January, the growth of Booker this year was inspiring and the continued development of rookies Ayton and Bridges combined with the selfless passing and terrific IQ of Morant would make the Suns can’t-miss entertainment.

Though the Cavs would likely also be interested in signing a generational point guard like Morant, the team already has its point guard of the future on the roster with Collin Sexton, who has had a strong rookie season. Instead they’ll likely opt for…
