Quick 2019-20 Free Agent Outlook

Those are the only three players that are guaranteed to be free agents this offseason. Anderson is a restricted free agent, meaning the Hawks can match any offer he receives if they so desire, but both Carter and Dedmon are unrestricted – meaning any team can offer them a deal.

However, next offseason is when the serious decisions will have to be made. Beyond the pending unrestricted free agencies of Kent Bazemore and Miles Plumlee – who will likely not be retained – and the restricted free agency of Jaylen Adams (whose future Atlanta Hawks status is unknown), Deyonta Davis’s salary for 2019-20 is fully non-guaranteed.

If the team does decide to keep Davis, he will also be an unrestricted free agent in 2019-20.

Most notably, of course, will be the restricted free agencies of DeAndre’ Bembry and Taurean Waller-Prince in 2019-20.

Both players had their options picked up last offseason, but the real decisions will be made earlier than that. Prince might be a notable trade target for many teams looking for young wings that have defensive upside and a three-point shooting pedigree.

For this writer, Bembry should be retained – as he truly showcased some impressive moments during the best season of his professional career in 2018-19. Either way, this upcoming offseason (and next year’s) will shape the future of the franchise.
