#9. Washington Wizards — Sekou Doumbouya

Easily the most intriguing international prospect in the 2019 NBA Draft class, Sekou Doumbouya is currently plying his trade in the French League for Limoges CSP.

The Guinea-born wing possesses terrific physical attributes, such as a sturdy 6-foot-9 frame and excellent length as well as the ability to pack on plenty more muscle once he gets into an NBA weight training regimen.

An unstoppable athlete once he gets a head of steam, Doumbouya’s numbers are fairly middling, but don’t forget that the game is played differently overseas than it is in the U.S.

With this pick, the Washington Wizards will be sort of “kicking the can down the road” on a raw prospect that will likely need a few years to develop, which means Washington will likely be back in the lottery next year – especially considering John Wall likely won’t play until late next season (if at all).

One of the main draws for Doumbouya is his youth, as he will be perhaps the single-youngest player in the 2019 NBA Draft class – not turning 19 until late December. Beyond that, Doumbouya projects to be a switchable defender across a variety of positions due to his size, speed and length – a skill that is becoming more and more important in today’s NBA.
