13. player. 110. . Big. Miami Heat. PJ Washington

After an impressive improvement from his freshman to sophomore campaigns, PJ Washington is certainly deserving of a lottery selection. Though he would honestly be an interesting fit for the Atlanta Hawks – especially if they took a swing on him at #10 overall – in this mock draft scenario, the Miami Heat nab him at #13 overall.

With the team tied to a bevy of ugly contracts going forward, the team must look to improve on the fringes. With young players such as Derrick Jones and Bam Adebayo already in the fold, Washington could provide a modern four archetype to a team that definitely could use some help on the perimeter.

Washington produced some excellent shooting splits in his sophomore campaign with Kentucky, delivering a 65.7 percent clip at the rim, a 45 percent clip on non-rim two-pointers and a 42.3 percent showing from downtown, per Bart Torvik. Beyond that, his 52/42/66 shooting splits per Sports Reference convey an all-around scoring efficiency that should translate well to the next level.

A terrific athlete with good size (6-foot-8, 230 pounds) and length (7-foot-3 wingspan), Washington plays with a motor that just doesn’t quit, which should also ingratiate himself with Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra.
