The 2019 NBA Draft Combine has come and gone, and this pick (as well as a few others later in this list) represents a player that shone bright during the scrimmage portion of the NBA-sanctioned event.
According to a Bleacher Report post-Combine big board by Jonathan Wasserman, Luka Samanic showcased a wide variety of skills in Day 1 of the Combine – so much so that he didn’t feel the need to play in the second scrimmage. Per Wasserman: “The 6’11” forward flashed scoring versatility with a three-point make, post-up spin move into a layup, tough drives and solid defensive foot speed.”
Indeed, Samanic provides that elusive combination of size and a gorgeous three-point shooting stroke that all NBA teams covet. Though he possesses a negative wingspan (6-foot-11 height and 6-foot-10½ wingspan), his offensive skills are the main reason to take a swing on Samanic – which is exactly why the Cavs employ their 25th overall pick on a potential project in the late first round of the 2019 NBA Draft here.
Also, Samanic possesses a popular name in NBA Draft circles with the moniker of Luka – so expect him to get plenty of love on draft day.
