2019 NBA Draft: 4 Terrific 3-Point Shooters for Atlanta Hawks

Kyle Guy, Late Second Round/Undrafted
The Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player and a generally and genuinely lovable personality, Kyle Guy of the Virginia Cavaliers surprisingly opted to keep his name in the 2019 NBA Draft after helping lead his team to its first-ever title in school history.
Though Tony Bennett’s coaching, Ty Jerome’s passing and ballhandling and De’Andre Hunter’s lockdown perimeter defense all played a big role in the team’s success, it seems likely that none of it would’ve worked as well without the deadeye three-point sniping of Kyle Guy.
The star of One Shining Podcast’s (now-retired) “Good Guy, Bag Guy, Kyle Guy (Kyle’s Guy, Cal’s Guy, etc.)” segment, Guy was a brilliant three-point marksman in his college career. Across three seasons at Virginia, Guy shot 42.5 from long range on a 55.5 percent three-point attempt rate per Sports Reference.
On the highest volume of his career in his senior season (282 attempts, 63.9 percent three-point attempt rate), Guy’s 42.5 percent clip from deep was 17th among players that attempted at least 175 triples last season.
On NBA-range three-pointers, Guy shot a superb 42.3 percent per The Stepien, which should convey that Guy will be able to come in and immediately shoot the lights out. If that statistic doesn’t do it for you, Guy was also a knockdown free throw shooter who shot 80.6 percent from the line in his college career.
Beyond that, Guy could often be seen sprinting all over the court trying to get open beyond the line (a la Stephen Curry or J.J. Redick). Though he might be undersized, Guy seems like a hard worker with a gorgeous jump shot – sounds like a terrific second-round pick to me for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2019 NBA Draft.
