Future Starting Small Forward

Roughly a week ago the Atlanta Hawks traded their starting small forward in Prince which leaves a hole in the starting lineup. Obviously, Reddish may not start right away but in the long-term, he could develop into a solid starter.

Reddish is listed at 6-foot-8 which is around the standard size for a small forward in today’s league. Drafting the Duke product would provide the team with a true small forward and someone who provides length. If the Hawks draft him their starting lineup with the exception of Young will have an ample amount of length and height.

  • Young (6-foot-2)
  • Huerter (6-foot-7)
  • Reddish (6-foot-8)
  • Collins (6-foot-10)
  • Dewayne Dedmon (7-foot)

Drafting Reddish with the No.8 pick will help propel this franchise forward because of his upside and the fact that he played the three in college. The Hawks need to fill the small forward slot and their answer may be the third option from Duke that people often forget about.

Selecting the 19-year-old will provide general manager Travis Schlenk and head coach Lloyd Pierce with another young piece to build around. Atlanta will have cap space to sign free agents in the summer but building a young core may be the better option.
