Overall
It’s still a close call, and if Jaxson Hayes’ name is called first on Thursday, few will be surprised.
Goga Bitadze looks to translate to the modern NBA better with his ability to be a stretch 5 as well as a bruising paint hog.
Hayes has a chance to be a top-20 or so rim protector in his rookie season, and getting that type of production on any side of the court so early on is a reason to draft someone.
Both could have a role in Lloyd Pierce’s up-tempo and modern offensive system, even if Bitadze is probably a better fit given his three-point aptitude.
Although it’s looking more and more likely that the Hawks will trade either 8 or 10, or both, around were both of these centers are slated to be drafted, they will still have a chance to take one.
It’s set to be an exciting 2019 NBA Draft day, for certain.
