The Atlanta Hawks recently added two new players to its Summer League roster.

Stunningly, there will actually be live Atlanta Hawks NBA basketball that takes place during the second week of July. The Las Vegas Summer League has transformed from a niche basketball product for devoted scouts, writers and executives to a week-long blowout that attracts large crowds of hardcore fans.

This year, of course, has already seen some of the biggest ticket sales in the event’s history due to the presence of Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett – two of the most feted prospects in recent memory.

The Atlanta Hawks will also be fielding a highly interesting Summer League team in Las Vegas, though the team will not be attending Utah Summer League, which starts in just one day on July 1!

It was recently announced that Phil Cofer of Florida State and Reid Travis of Kentucky will be joining the Hawks Summer League roster – joining the previously announced Matt Mooney of Texas Tech and Nick Ward of Michigan State.

Cofer was a five-year player for Florida State, and his teammates Mfiondu Kabengele and Terrance Mann were both drafted in the 2019 NBA Draft by the LA Clippers. Mooney will join his fellow Red Raider Jarrett Culver in Summer League, and Reid Travis will face off against his former teammate PJ Washington at Kentucky.

Of course, an invite to Summer League mostly serves as an opportunity for these older prospects to showcase their skills in front of a wide audience of NBA executives – potentially winning a chance at a Two-Way Contract or other NBA deal.

For the Hawks, these celebrated college seniors round out a Summer League roster that already included Two-Way signing Charlie Brown (best name in Summer League), second-year big man Omari Spellman and, once their trades become official, the #4 overall pick De’Andre Hunter and #34 overall pick Bruno Fernando.
