Our player goals series continues with a look at the longest-tenured member of the Atlanta Hawks: DeAndre’ Bembry.

It is rather shocking to believe that DeAndre’ Bembry, who is still only 25 years old, will be the longest-tenured member of the Atlanta Hawks next season due to being with the team for a whopping four seasons.

Had Taurean Prince stuck around, Bembry and he would’ve been tied, but for now (with Kent Bazemore gone) the team’s lone holdover from the last time the Hawks made the playoffs is Bembry.

For the first time in his career, Bembry played in all 82 games last season and was a major part of the team’s bench unit – serving as a key defensive replacement for Trae Young while also serving as a tertiary ballhandler when the need arose.

Let’s take a look at the goals for Bembry.

Shoot At Least 35 Percent From Deep

After his first two seasons, in which he played sparingly, Bembry was able to truly show what his game was all about last season, and his three-point shooting was one area where there was room for improvement. Though Bembry shot below 30 percent on 173 attempts, if he can push that up to roughly league-average, he will be much more of an important cog for the Atlanta Hawks next season.

Finish With 125 Steals & 60 Blocks

This might seem lofty, but Bembry has the defensive skill set to be able to produce solid “stocks” totals for the season. The only players to produce such totals in Atlanta Hawks history are Paul Millsap (3x) and Josh Smith. Millsap was a tremendous two-way force for the Hawks, but Bembry should aim to match those numbers next season.

Decrease Turnovers

Bembry has always had trouble with turnovers, but his playmaking did lead to 202 assists versus 142 turnovers last year (as opposed to 49 and 47, respectively, in his sophomore campaign). Bembry should aim to lower that assist-to-turnover ratio even further next season.
