A quick look at recent news surrounding Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young in his second season in the NBA.

After a rollicking rookie season, in which he became the best rookie in franchise history, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks is primed to become one of the stars of the league in his second season with the team.

Though there are multiple ways in which Young can garner more attention from the masses, one surefire way in which to cement himself as one of the brightest young stars in the league is to be named to the All-Star game in his second season.

Unlike his foil Luka Doncic, who plays in the far more star-studded Western Conference, Young is already a major name in a watered-down Eastern Conference in which one of its biggest stars, Kawhi Leonard, left over the offseason.

According to a story by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Ice Trae believes he truly has a chance to make the All-Star game if the Hawks remain competitive throughout the season and potentially make the playoffs:

“I believe I have a chance to be an All-Star this year,” Young told Haynes in his Yahoo Sports story. “I think if we win as many games as I feel like we can and at least be in playoff contention, I think I have a good chance. The more we win, the better my odds are of getting into the All-Star Game and that’s my main focus: winning. I know my numbers will be there. I’m not worried about my numbers. I feel like the way we play, the fast pace we play, my numbers will be there. For me, it’s all about winning. If we’re winning, I have a really good chance of being in that All-Star game.”

Indeed, according to veteran Vince Carter, the Atlanta Hawks are “shooting for that 8 seed” next season, but for the team to truly win consistently, they will have to curtail the turnover troubles they’ve experienced so far in the preseason.

Of course, it is only the preseason, which should have little bearing on how the team will play down the line, but still something to think about.
