Chandler Parsons’ Atlanta Hawks Debut Just Around Corner

Off season acquisition Chandler Parsons has not suited up yet this year, but that should be about to change.

I was higher than most on the Atlanta Hawks’ off season pick up of veteran forward Chandler Parsons. For a (very) young team, it’s always nice to have some guys who have been around.

And say what you will about Parsons’ game on the court, but nothing bad has ever surrounded him off the court.

Considering the Hawks have 2 rookies wings playing considerable minutes, any veteran leadership is welcomed.

Parsons can also shoot the ball fairly effectively, making 42% of his threes just 2 years ago. That was the year when he fully transitioned from a starter to a bench piece, and had one of his better years overall.

Last season, he appeared in just 25 games – again suffering from one of his frequent injuries, and struggled when he was able to play.

He has not appeared this year due to his oft-injured knees, but as slowly been rising up on the injury report. From out, the first couple weeks, to questionable the next, then starting on Thursday vs. the Suns, and tonight versus the Clips, he was upgraded to available.

With Kevin Huerter and Evan Turner sidelined with injury, Vince Carter out indefinitely for personal reasons, and John Collins still suspended, now would be as good of a time as ever for Parsons to debut.

If nothing else, he’s another body for the short-handed Hawks to throw out there, and considering that their biggest issues have come on the offensive side of the ball, the free-shooting forward could provide instant impact.

After being available for the Suns game, he’ll likely continue being able to check in, but we’ll have to see if it’s tonight, tomorrow, or some time else in the future.

Regardless of exactly when, the 31-year-old should clock his first minutes in a Hawks uniform very shortly.
