After the 150-101 loss, the Hawks turn right around and play another talented team in Los Angeles tomorrow.

It was the roughest of starts for the Atlanta Hawks in L.A tonight, allowing a 15-0 run in the opening minutes.

A deficit of 20-3 awaited them at the other side of that. Paul George was cooking in his 2nd game this season, scoring 25 in the first half, 37 for the game. A MVP-type performance for ‘Playoff P’.

The Hawks were able to slowly climb back into the contest throughout the 2nd quarter, eventually cutting the Clipper lead to just 4. They couldn’t hold onto that however, as a run of their own had the Clippers leading by double digits again at halftime.

Things got real ugly after that.

The Clippers outscored the Hawks 76 to 39 in the 2nd half, with the lead at one point swelling to 52.

Trae Young tried his best to keep the Hawks in it, scoring 20 to go along with 6 assists. No one is ever rack up too many dimes when the team around him shoots 37% from the field.

One of the few highlights of the game was Trae’s fake pass to finger roll in the 1st:

The Hawks were also thoroughly beat on the boards as well, losing the battle 53-38.

The Clippers’ gaudy point total is the most the first time the Hawks have allowed 150 in a non-OT game since 1969.

It also marks the 5th straight game wherein the Hawks allowed 120 or more. So much for that hot start defensively.

Box Score Notes:

  • Evan Turner looked good in limited minutes. He scored 11 on 4-7 shooting in 15 minutes.
  • Despite being fully available to play, Chandler Parsons did not check in.
  • Atlanta blocked a season-high 10 shots. Damian Jones contributed 4 to the total. He also fouled out, aggressive play defensively by Jones.
  • Cam Reddish netted -45 plus/minus. Woof.

The Atlanta Hawks were completely outplayed in 3 of 4 quarters tonight, and the Clippers shot way too well for any keeping up.

Next. Analyzing Cam Reddish's slow start. dark

After a 2-0 start the Hawks now fall to 4-8 on the young season. They’ll look to get back on the right side of the win column tomorrow in the same building when they play the Lakers.

Tip will be another night one, starting at 9:30 EST.
