Recap of the Milwaukee Bucks’ victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

The Atlanta Hawks were greeted at home by one of the best teams in the league after finishing a 5-game road trip last week. Although a closing minutes run kept things interesting, the Hawks still lost 135-127.

They came out swinging, and played well in the 1st half, taking a 3 point lead into halftime.

Things took a turn in the 3rd period, where the Bucks started on a 23-5 run while the Hawks missed their first 6 field goals, turning the ball over repeatably along the way.

Milwaukee on the other hand came out of the locker room blazing, and outscored the Hawks 38-22 in the 3rd. They shot just under 53% from the field on the night.

To the Hawks credit, they made it fairly interesting down the stretch, cutting the lead down to 7 with just about a minute left, which made Milwaukee put Giannis Antetokounmpo back in the game, after his night seemingly was over.

The Hawks scored 44 in the final period, but it still wasn’t enough.

The rookies had their best showings thus far. De’Andre Hunter had his best career game, scoring a team-high 27, making 8 of 12 attempts, including 3-3 from deep. He added 11 boards. Cam Reddish cooled off a bit after a hot start, but still finished with 17 points, also going 3-3 from three.

Trae Young had 25 points, 8 assists and 3 steals.

Box Score Notes:

  • Just 13 turnovers for the Hawks, just the 2nd game on the year wherein the opponent turned it over more.
  • Evan Turner, Bruno Fernando and Deandre’ Bembry finished in the positives in +/-. Fernando had 5 boards and 4 points in 12 minutes played.
  • Alex Len clocked just 8 minutes of play.

Just like the Lakers and Clippers games previous, the Hawks were simply outplayed by a better opponent.

Of course, the defense could always be better, but the Hawks have, for the most part, played with good energy against better teams.

Next. Hawks Stock up, stock down for November. dark

It’ll be interesting to see how they fare next game, which is a rematch of opening day, when the Hawks beat the Pistons 117-100.

Atlanta will carry a 4-10 record and a 4 game losing stretch into that match up on Friday. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 Eastern in Detroit.
