Atlanta Hawks Recap: Trae Scores 49 in Loss
By Dallin Duffy
A recap of the Atlanta Hawks OT loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday Night.
Trae Young did all he could, but the Atlanta Hawks still fell to the Indiana pacers by a score of 105-104.
Young was brilliant, scoring 49 points on 16/28 shooting, making 8 threes along the way. He chipped in 6 assists and 2 steals through his 42 minutes of play.
The point total ties his career high, and marks the second time this year he’s hit 40 or more in a game. His final deep shot at the buzzer went in, but was just a bit too little, cutting the Pacers’ lead from 4 to just 1.
It’s the Hawks’ 9th straight loss in what has been a miserable month of November for the ball club.
DeAndre Bembry was solid in the defeat as well, turning out 15 points, 12 boards and a few of the Hawks’ best plays of the night.
Alex Len also scored 15, on a very efficient 5-8 shooting night.
The Hawks have to be disappointed not only in their loss, but blowing the good sized lead they had.
They had an 18-point advantage at a point in the 2nd period, and a run by the Pacers right out of the half stripped that away.
The Pacers took the lead in the 3rd quarter, and basically never gave it away again asides from the regulation-ending tie.
Box Score Notes:
- Atlanta was almost perfect from the line tonight, making 17 of 18 from the stripe.
- Damian Jones fouled out for the 3rd time on the young season tonight. He needed just 20 minutes to do so.
The Hawks now carry the longest losing streak in the NBA into the month of December, and their record overall now falls to 4-15.
They’ll try to avoid making it 10 straight when they play the Rockets in Houston tomorrow at 8 EST. We’ll have the recap right here if you have to miss.
