9. Demarre Carroll

Demarre Carroll played just two years with the Hawks, but was very good in that short time.

Carroll’s the first appearance on this list by the 2015 January player of the month, which was actually 5 players – The Hawks’ starting five.

The next month, four of the starters were elected to the All-Star game, with Carroll being left out in that regard.

Carroll averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and over one steal a game during that 2014-2015 season, starting 69 games. In his other the year before he had very similar numbers, as he did in the 23 playoff games he appeared in for Atlanta.

He was a perfect 3-and-D bruiser for the Hawks in that era.

8. Dennis Schröder

Dennis the menace had an up-and-down tenure in Atlanta.

After being drafted by the team 17th overall in 2013, Schröder played 5 years in the ATL, slowly moving from someone deep on the bench, to key back up, to starter, to potentially the future of the franchise.

The latter didn’t work out, but when the team traded Jeff Teague in 2016, they seemingly tossed the keys to the German point guard at the same time.

Whether it be his defense, motor, or turnovers, other aspects of his game can certainly be questioned, but you couldn’t deny his ability to score. In his two years as a starter for Atlanta, Dennis averaged 18.6 points and 6.3 assists per game, shooting 44% from the field.

He’s seemed to find his niche as a high-volume 6th man in OKC, the same role he originally prospered in with the Hawks.
