Recapping the Atlanta Hawks disappointing loss in Brooklyn.
The Atlanta Hawks fell to the Brooklyn Nets Saturday by a score of 122-112.
The Hawks got off to a hot start, riding a 8-0 start in the early moments to a 14-5 lead.
Before Atlanta could build any further cushion, Brooklyn went on a 18-2 run to take the lead.
The 2nd quarter was the Trae Young and Alex Len show, with the two combining to score the team’s first 18 of the period.

Young entered the half with 24 points and a 13-point lead for the team.
Last time the Hawks played the Nets, Brooklyn grabbed a ludicrous 15 offensive rebounds in the first half, a major factor in Atlanta losing that game.
This time, Atlanta flipped the script, pulling down 10 boards on their side of the court, leading to open second chance looks.
The Hawks’ offense cooled off in the 3rd quarter, but they managed to keep pace with the Nets to maintain a double-digit lead heading into the 4th.
It was a lead that quickly dispersed, with Brooklyn storming out to score the first 14 points of the quarter. Atlanta didn’t score until the period was almost halfway finished.
Trae, once again the Hawks’ lone offensive force in the 2nd half, tried his best to keep Atlanta in the game.

Ultimately, the Nets’ surging 4th quarter was too much, extending the Hawks’ losing streak to seven. In total, the Hawks were outscored 37-14 in the final quarter.
Trae Young finished with a season-high 47 points in the losing effort.
Stray Notes:
- No Damian Jones for a 2nd consecutive day, could be firmly out of the rotation at this point.
- Zero 2nd half assists for Trae.
- Final tally for Len: 23 points, 14 boards, 2 blocks.
In what was the final game without John Collins, the Hawks produced the game they needed him the most. Trae Young scored 23 of the Hawks’ 39 2nd half points, and was in desperate need of a sidekick.
Collins and the Hawks will be back on Monday night against the Cavs.
