Recapping the Atlanta Hawks loss to the Bucks Friday night.

In a game that was bleak from the get, the Atlanta Hawks lost to Milwaukee Friday night, extending their losing streak to nine.

The final score was 112-86.

The Bucks, even without reiging MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, scored the first eight points of the game, en route to a 23-point halftime lead.

Worse, the Hawks lost Trae Young to an ankle injury, and he did not return to the game.

He looked like he rolled it pretty good, similar to the ankle injury he suffered a while back. He missed just one game after that one.

Update: Trae Young will not travel to Chicago for tomorrow’s contest.

Thing’s didn’t improve after that, with the Bucks’ lead swelling above 30 on multiple occasions.

Allen Crabbe was the lone offensive standout, scoring 20 points in 21 minutes on just ten shots.

John Collins never really got going on the offensive side of things, but pulled down 16 rebounds, blocking three shots as well.

Kevin Huerter ran point for the most part after Trae Young went down, dishing out three assists, which was embarrassingly the team high on the night.

Stray Notes:

  • Two-way point guard Brandon Goodwin played 14 minutes for the Hawks, who will likely stay with the team longer if Young’s injury is serious. He scored no points on 0-6 shooting.
  • The Hawks were easily out-rebounded once again, losing that battle 50-38.
  • Atlanta shot 36.3% from the field, just a tick over their worst shooting night of the season when they shot 36% against the Lakers.
  • De’Andre Hunter posted an insanely bad -36 in 22 minutes.

Next. KAT to ATL?. dark

The loss is especially ugly given the Bucks were without their two worst players.

The Hawks losing streak now sits at nine, which is somehow not their longest on the year. They sit at 6-26 as we dance into the new year.

They’ll be right back at it tomorrow in Chicago to play the Bulls.

We’ll keep you posted on both that game and of course, Trae Young’s injury updates.
