Recapping the Atlanta Hawks’ loss to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

The Atlanta Hawks fell to the Chicago Bulls 116-82 Saturday night, extending their losing streak to ten.

They were tasked with playing the now 13-20 Bulls without their lone star, Trae Young, who didn’t make the trip after suffering an ankle injury the night prior.

Atlanta missed in every sense of the game, especially on the offensive side. The 82 points scored is the lowest on the season for the Hawks.

They were also without Jabari Parker.

John Collins did his best, scoring 34 in the lone highlight from the 34 point loss. He made 14 of his 26 shot attempts, blocking three shots and pulling down eight boards as well. Collins missed his career high of 35 points by the slimmest of margins, and did set his career high in field goal attempts.

He was the obvious first option on offense.

Alex Len was the only other Hawks to reach double digits in scoring, hitting 10 on 4-4 shooting.

No one showed up defensively, allowing Chicago to shoot a tick under 50% from the field, as well as 48% from three. When the Bulls pulled ahead early, no one wearing white looked interested in much hustle on the night.

Stray Notes:

  • The Atlanta Hawks totaled just 30 rebounds on the night, their 2nd-lowest number on the season.
  • The 11 free throws they attempted tied their season low. They made eight.
  • Cam Reddish took just 5 shots in 27 minutes. He was officially named as the starting point guard minus Trae Young

It was pretty easily the worst effort for Atlanta on the season, if you could even call it an effort.

As 2019 winds down, it’s extremly obvious this roster just isn’t very good, and it’s even more obvious they need Trae Young to at least stay competitive at all.

The ten-game losing streak matches their longest on the season, and they’ll have to avoid making it 11 when they take on the Magic in Orlando on Monday night.

Tip is set for 7 Eastern.

Trae Young will probably be listed as questionable, but we’d be surprised if he plays until the Hawks return home on January 4th.
