Analyzing whether or not Hawks guard Trae Young will make the All-Star game this season.

There is no doubt that Trae Young has been playing like an All-Star this season for the Atlanta Hawks.

The only question is, does everyone else think that?

The first round NBA All-Star voting returns should come out soon, as last year they were released on January 3rd.

John Collins was the lone member of the Hawks with any buzz to make the All-Star roster last year, fans were hoping he could just slide in in the final roster spot rather than a starting one.

Trae Young this year on the other hand, has a real case to be in the East’s starting five come February.

He’s a near lock for at least a roster spot, rest assured, as the coaching staffs who pick the reserves should easily see Young’s great season.

The starters however, are a split of a fan, player and coach vote, giving the public, who might not be following the Hawks as close, a chance to throw a more popular player in there instead.

Young’s biggest competition at the guard spot include Bradley Beal, Kemba Walker, Malcolm Brogdon, Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, Khris Middleton, Jaylen Brown, the list goes on. Pretty good competition.

Trae, who averages the league’s 4th best 28.5 points per game, deserves to be read along with these guys, and perhaps over them.

Some might have a hard time placing a member of the 7-win Hawks anyone on their roster, and I do agree with that to an extent. It certainly makes it harder to pencil Trae in anywhere on the team.

We’ll have to look forward to the voting returns to get a gauge on where Young is currently, but for now, you can always go here and do a little voting yourself.

Next. Trae Young expected back Friday. dark

Trae Young is set to return for Friday’s game with the Celtics, matching himself up with two of his aforementioned competitors.

We’ll see if that brings out any tenacity.
