Starter Grades

Trae scored 28 points before he missed a shot, riding a white hot first half to his 5th 40-point performance of the year. Indiana caught on, eventually doubling Young on nearly every possession, but he was still effective running the offense. I noted in yesterday’s grade for Young, that it one of Young’s better defensive performances of late, and that carried over tonight. He held opposing point guard <a rel=. PG. Atlanta Hawks. TRAE YOUNG. A

KEVIN HUERTER. B+. Huerter was the big benefactor of Trae Young being doubled, getting a good amount of open looks, and to his credit, he hit most. Kev made 4 of 7 attempts from beyond the arch, finishing with a season high 26 points, in a season high 41 minutes of play. Huerter looked aggressive, something I haven’t written since his rookie year, and did a bit of everything with his 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Him and Trae combined for 67 of the team’s 116 points.. SG. Atlanta Hawks

Hunter was near invisible on offense tonight, finishing with zero points on three attempts in 30 minutes of play. He was his usual defensive self, flying around the court and making an impact on that side of the floor. Hunter hasn’t faded like his fellow rooks Cam Reddish and Bruno Fernando on the season, but this kind of night seems to come every once in a while for the Virginia product.. F. Atlanta Hawks. DE'ANDRE HUNTER. D+

C+. Bruno made his first start at power forward this season, which was also one of his better starts on the year. He scored 10 points, just a tick under his career high of 11. Fernando played 21 minutes, racking up 4 rebounds and 3 assists to go with the 10 points, which he got on 4 of 6 shooting.. C. Atlanta Hawks. BRUNO FERNANDO

C -. Despite the start, Damian Jones played just 9 minutes thanks to getting in foul trouble. It’s been a stuggle for Jones all season, who now averages 3.1 fouls per game in 17.1 minutes. A night after recording a DNP, he made his one shot, finishing with 2 points and 6 rebounds on the night.. C. Atlanta Hawks. DAMIAN JONES
