Mocking the All-Star starters draft that features Atlanta Hawks’ point guard Trae Young.

For the first time since 1998, a member of the Atlanta Hawks will start in the All-Star game. That is of course their young star Trae Young, who was announced as a starter last Thursday after leading Eastern Conference guards in votes.

Since 1998, there have been major changes to the NBA All-Star Game, namely in how the teams are selected. There are still starters, five from each conference, but they no longer play East vs. West. Instead, the two top overall vote-getters each captain a team, and select the stars that’ll play around them. This year’s captains are LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Trae Young is guaranteed a starting spot, but he won’t know if he’s team Giannis or team LeBron until after the draft, which will take place on February 6th.

Here, we’ll attempt to get into the minds of the two future Hall-of-Famers who’ll be picking their teams by mocking out the starters draft. Once the reserves are announced on the 30th, we’ll make a complete mock.

The draft  follows a snake format for the most part. meaning LeBron picks first, then Giannis, then Bron, and so on. To make things more fair, Giannis gets the final pick of the starters and first pick of the reserves. The two must pick all eight of the starters before moving into the reserve pool.

Without further ado, let’s get mocking.
