Round Four:
Team LeBron: Pascal Siakam, F, Raptors
Kemba Walker is probably the better player, but with two guards already, LeBron looks to Siakam who can play both forward positions. Siakam also brings the fire of a first year All-Star, and could be the one to take the game more seriously than the others.
Pascal is enjoying a breakout season after winning the league’s most improved player (and a championship) a year ago, averaging 23.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.5 assist per game on 46% shooting. The 4th year forward is also a killer defender, and we’ll see how much of that translates to the All-Star court.
He has to be a dark horse candidate to win the MVP.
Team Giannis: Kemba Walker, PG, Celtics
Kemba was the final pick of the starters round last season, going to Giannis. This season could very easily see a repeat of that.
Walker is a spectacular yet quiet guard, and doesn’t have the mass appeal of others on this list. This was proven again in the fan vote, when he finished behind Kyrie Irving, who’s played less than 20 games this year.
Even with the game being in Charlotte last season when he still played for the Hornets, Walker managed just four points on eight shots, but did add eight assists.
Still, being the last pick of the starters round isn’t like being last in recess dodge ball, it’s a real honor. And Walker can always explode in any given game, even the All-Star Game.
You can see how accurate this mock draft is when the actual picks happen on February 6th on TNT.
