Setting Goals for Trae Young at the Rising Stars Game
By Dallin Duffy
#2- Win the Game, MVP
Since adopting the USA vs. World match up in 2015, team international has won three of the five contests. Team USA has the chance to pull even at 3-3, or fall in a deep 4-2 hole.
Both have 10-man teams full of young talent (as the name suggests), and while team USA might have the deeper team, team World has top tier players. The game projects to be much closer than last season, and it could go down to the wire.
Young would likely need to have a good game for the team to win, which is exactly what he should be aiming for. With the Hawks winning just 15 games before the break, Young should be gunning for a win while he has a stacked supporing cast.
In addition to simply getting the win, Young should set his sights on the MVP.
As mentioned earlier, Trae has the best odds to win the MVP, rightfully so given he’s among the most talented players in the league, let alone in the Rising Stars Game.
Honestly numbers similar to last season could win him the award, as long as one of his teammates doesn’t go off like Kyle Kuzma did for 35 points a season ago.
Consequently, if he gets the triple-double in the previous goal, he will almost get the MVP, and give his team a greater chance of winning.
Trae and the rest of Team USA will face off with the World on Valentine’s Day, February 14 in Chicago at 9 Eastern.
