Bruno Fernando

Much attention has been thrown to the Atlanta Hawks’ two top-ten selections in last summer’s Draft, as both De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish have had up-and-down rookie campaign. Despite playing solid minutes for a second-rounder, Bruno Fernando has not had the same amount of attention.

Part of that reason has to be due to his play, which has not been very good to this point. There’s been more than a few times this season that Bruno didn’t look ready for the pros, looking lost on both sides of the floor.

Maybe with the hopes of playing out of it or due to growing injuries, Fernando has suited up College Park just three times this season, although his skill set is much more suited for the G-League currently.

The Hawks added three centers at the deadline, only shipping one (Alex Len) out. Bruno suddenly finds himself buried on the depth chart, and will need to make the most of his minutes. There’s not one major part of his game he needs to work on, as he could make strides in every aspect on the court.

We’ll have to see how many minutes he gets in the second chance to get a chance to improve.

What to watch for:

  • His role in improved frontcourt rotation
  • More disciplined play (less fouls)
  • Raising FG%
