Starter Grades

A+. Trae might have played the best game of his career Thursday night, and the career-high in points only helps that case. He was unstoppable throughout most the game but especially in the early minutes of the 4th quarter. Miami had no answer for him. Their acquisition of known defensive-stopper Andre Iguodala did not look warranted tonight, with Trae cooking him on more than one occasion. Trae added eight assists, two steals and his lone lonelight – seven turnovers.. PG. Atlanta Hawks. TRAE YOUNG

B. Kevin Huerter was exactly what he should be tonight: a secondary offensive piece whose defense is just good enough. He tied De’Andre Hunter for the most points other than Trae, scoring 17. Huerter took eight threes, making three while making a few nice inside scores as well. Only Dewayne Dedmon had more rebounds on the night and Kev added 4 assists as well. Good night for Huerter who provided a veteran presence in just his second season.. SG. Atlanta Hawks. KEVIN HUERTER

B. Two quick fouls had Hunter on the bench early, but he was still able to make the most of his 29 minutes. He hit the big three to tie the game late, going 3-3 from deep overall. His +/- of +26 is the second highest of his career, and held Jimmy Butler in check for most of the night. Hunter added six rebounds and a steal in one of the rookie’s best overall nights.. SF. Atlanta Hawks. DE'ANDRE HUNTER

JOHN COLLINS. C. JC was pretty quiet in this one, taking just nine shots. He made five of those for 12 points. His biggest contribution came on defense, where he blocked three shots and was asked to do a lot. Collins was feasted on a bit on the glass when he slid over to the five spot. Collins has recorded seven or less rebounds in two straight games, after doing that just once in previous 15 games.. PF. Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta Hawks. DEWAYNE DEDMON. C -. Dewayne Dedmon was fantastic in his first two games back with the Hawks, but since moving into the starting role has struggled a bit. He was held scoreless tonight on just two shots, perhaps acting has the sacrificial lamb to Trae’s 50 point night. He made some nice defense plays and lead the Hawks in rebounds with eight, but has definitely had better nights in a Hawks uniform.. C
