Handing out grades for the Atlanta Hawks’ 126-112 loss to Philly.
The Atlanta Hawks faced off with the Philadelphia 76ers Monday night, falling by a score of 126-112.
The game itself was closer than the score indicated, and the Hawks did take a lead into the fourth quarter after trailing by as many as 21 in the first quarter. Atlanta had a few stretches wherein they just could not buy a bucket, unfortunately including crunch time in the final period.
From 9:45 left in the game to 3:52 left the Hawks scored just four points, managing just 20 points in the fourth after scoring 40 in the third. They made just eight of their 38 attempts from three, with Trae Young going 2-11.
Joel Embiid was a beast all night, feasting on whomever the Hawks tried to cover him with. His 19 fourth quarter points were a major reason in deciding their win and paved way for a new career-high of 49 points.
Ultimately the Hawks just couldn’t play a complete game. Struggling in the first and fourth quarters isn’t an ideal recipe to win, although with their fantastic third quarter they were still able to make it a game.
With the loss, the Hawks’ record goes to 17-42, still a tick above the Cavs in the Eastern Conference standings. They next play Orlando at home, their fourth and final meeting on the season with them.
Before we get there however, we’ll be taking a further look at this game, handing out player grades to everyone who checked in.
