3. 4th Quarter Woes

Atlanta has actually been among the best 4th quarter teams in the league of late, at least offensively.  The Hawks have averaged 29.0 points in the 4th quarter since February began, which is 4th in the league.

In the last two games however, they’ve fallen asleep at the wheel in the final period. Atlanta has been good offensively in those games overall, scoring 112 against Philly and 120 against Orlando — both good defensive teams.

Against the Sixers, they managed just 20 points, and tonight just 25.

The inexperience that they usually find a way to work around has been prevalent in their past two contests, and while Trae Young was good in both, failed to take over like he did against Miami and Dallas.

They made 8 of 24 from the field in the fourth on Wednesday, and the Magic weren’t exactly shooting the lights out on the other end, leaving the door open for a Hawks’ comeback.

Whether it’s a experience thing or a execution thing, 4th quarter scoring has been severely lacking of late, one of the few things the 17-43 Hawks had going for them.
