Full Two-Round NBA Mock Draft Pre-March Madness
By Dallin Duffy
The Nuggets have a near complete roster, and are in a nice position to simply take the best player on the board. In my eyes, that’s Vanderbilt sophmore Aaron Nesmith.
Nesmith hurt his foot in early January, ending his collegiate career. In the 14 games he did play this season, he was one of the nation’s most electric scorers, averaging 23.0 points per game on 51 percent shooting. Amazingly, his three-point clip was even higher, sitting at 52 percent.
Like Bey drafted in the slot above, Nesmith isn’t going to create his own shots often — at least not right away. Instead he’ll be a productive catch-and-shoot option wherever he is on the court.
His lackluster defense in college projects him to be an even worse defender in the pros, and it’s a major reason he’s in the 20’s rather than the Lottery despite making over half his threes.
Again, Denver is in a position where they really don’t need production from a rookie, but any help they do get is just extra help. Nesmith’s scoring could be a huge boost.
