LeBron James has a history of not playing well with rookies, and if not this season, the Lakers will certainly be in emergency win-now mode next year. It’s pretty likely they trade this pick, but for now we’ll send a senior point guard their way.
Winston has proven himself to be a winner during his four years under Tom Izzo, and while his numbers have failed to increase significantly from his junior to senior year, is still a top player in the nation.
The 6’1 point guard has a career 42 percent clip from three with Sparty, and create his own shots as well as he can create open ones for his teammates.
Obviously the down side here is his draft age of 22, and his size is one that rarely translates to the NBA well. The hope is that he’s already pro-ready, and can pick up in the NBA right where his college career ended.
