27. Pick Analysis. PG, Australia. New York Knicks. LaMelo Ball. player. Scouting Report. 5

Ball probably has one of the biggest potential draft ranges, and I would be as surprised if Ball went first overall as I would if he went eighth. LaMelo brings tremendous size for his position, sitting at 6’7 with a 6’10 wingspan. With that length he averaged 7.6 rebounds per game in the NBL.

His greatest skill is play-making however, and he’s the best true point guard in this year’s class. The Knicks are always in position to nab a high-profile free agent and his passing would be an instant selling point to them.

Like his brother Lonzo, LaMelo’s biggest obstacle to overcome in the NBA will be his outside shooting. Despite shooting just 25 percent from three, Ball wasn’t afraid to shot the deep ball during his time with Illawarra, taking 6.7 attempts per game.

Hopes are his play-making, defense and slashing abilities overshadow his jump shooting downfalls.
