Anthony Edwards

The Atlanta Hawks will need a bit of help from the Lottery to grab Edwards, the #1 pick on many big boards. He’s maintained that spot despite play that hasn’t been incredibly impressive during his freshman season.

Because of that play and questionable talent around him, his 15-16 Georgia team will enter the SEC Tournament as the 13th seed, needing five straight wins to make the NCAA Tourney. They haven’t won five straight all year, and won a total of five game sin the SEC.

Still, the explosive Edwards has a chance to be the best offense player on the court in any given matchup, and could put the team on his back.

He has a chance to cement his status as the #1 big with a good showing in his (likely) final week wearing Bulldog Red.

What to watch for:

  • Shot selection — hero ball when needed, not always.
  • Consistent defensive effort.
  • Athletic pop on both ends.
  • Three point percentage. he shot just 30 percent on 7.6 attempts in the regular season. This ties into shot selection.

The Bulldogs’ first match will be against Ole Miss on Wednesday, a rematch of a January contest that saw the Rebels win 70-60. Edwards shot 3-12 for 13 points in that one.

Atlanta’s scouting team will no doubt be watching the hometown kid.
