Ranking the last 10 Atlanta Hawks first-round picks

4. Kevin Huerter
Kevin Huerter, AKA Red Velvet, is such a good value pick at number 19 in the 2018 NBA draft. And considering, the pick for Huerter was acquired in the trade that sent Adreian Payne to the Timberwolves makes it that much sweeter.
In just his second NBA season Huerter was averaging 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game with shooting splits of .413/.380/.828, per Basketball-Reference. These are really solid numbers that will keep Huerter in the league for a very long time.
While Huerter has been amazing in his two seasons with the Hawks, his role in the future seems unclear. With the emergence of Cam Reddish late in the season does that mean Huerter is destined to be the sixth man for this Hawks team? I personally believe Reddish is a better fit alongside Trae Young, simply because he’s a better defender than Huerter.
If it is the case that the Hawks will be moving Huerter to more of a sixth man role in the near future they are going to have a lethal rotation very, very soon. And if they are able to add one or two more solid rotation players either through the draft or through free-agency, the Hawks will be a playoff team in the next year or two.
