Forward – Dominique Wilkins

Dominique Wilkins is quite possibly the greatest Atlanta Hawk of all-time. Wilkins played the first 11 and a half seasons of his career with the Atlanta Hawks and during that time he averaged 26.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. He was also named to nine All-Star teams and seven All-NBA teams and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006.

Wilkins also had one of the most iconic moments in Dunk Contest history when he went toe-to-toe with Michael Jordan in the 1988 contest. Many believe Dominque Wilkins deserved to win that contest instead of MJ, regardless, he is certainly one of the greatest runner-ups of all-time (along with two-time runner-up Aaron Gordon). The Human Highlight Film is quite simply one of the greatest dunkers of all-time, which counts for something.

While Dominique Wilkins never won an NBA championship or even made it to the NBA finals, he’s still one of the greatest scorers in NBA history and deserves every bit of recognition he receives. Championship or not, Wilkins is one of the greatest players in Atlanta Hawks history. But unfortunately, he’s also one of the best players in NBA history, that never won an NBA championship.
