C – Al Horford

Al Horford was drafted 3rd overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2007 NBA Draft. Horford played his first nine seasons in the NBA with the Hawks and he got better every single year. If you would have asked me five years ago if I thought Horford would play his entire career with the Hawks, my answer would have been a resounding yes.

In Horford’s nine seasons with the Hawks, he averaged 14.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. He also had amazing shooting numbers for a big man with shooting splits of .535/.340/.743.

While it’s not impossible, it certainly isn’t likely that Horford is inducted to the Hall of Fame. Regardless, Horford is one of the greatest team players in NBA history.

His impact goes far beyond the box score in terms of his leadership ability, his defensive positioning, his ability to be in the right place at the right time on offense, Horford does all the little thing that don’t show up in the box score.

Al Horford is the epitome of what it means to be a great Atlanta Hawk. I wouldn’t be surprised if we one day saw his jersey hanging in the rafters.
