Atlanta Hawks Starters as How I Met Your Mother Characters
By Nate Friesen
Kevin Huerter as Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel)
This was the easiest comparison by far. Kevin Huerter aka ‘Red Velvet’ and Marshall Eriksen aka ‘Big Fudge’ not only both have great food-related nicknames, but they are also both goofy, fun-loving role players on their teams (shows).
Kevin Huerter plays his role perfectly for the Hawks, whether he’s starting or coming off the bench, Huerter is always ready to shoot three’s and be a secondary ball-handler and he never tries to do too much. Marshall Eriksen was the same way, he knew his role was to be a goofy character that provides comic relief in even the saddest parts of the show, and he never disappointed.
One interesting thing, however, is that when Marshall Eriksen became a judge at the end of the show, he changed his nickname from ‘Big Fudge’ to ‘Judge Fudge’. I think that means if Kevin Huerter ever becomes an All-Star we’ll need to change his nickname from Red Velvet to Red Carpet? (I’m sure we could do better than that).
Either way, Kevin Huerter and Marshall Eriksen are two of the most fun people on their team (or show) and they made the Atlanta Hawks and How I Met Your Mother the entertaining team (and show) they are today.
