F – Josh Smith

Josh Smith. The only player on any of the All-Hawks teams to have never made an All-Star team. This may be a controversial pick, but I believe Josh Smith deserves this spot.

Smith was a highly touted player coming out of high school in 2004. He ended up getting drafted that year by the Atlanta Hawks with the 17th overall selection. That resulted in him playing the first nine seasons of his career for the team.

During his nine seasons with the Hawks, he played by far the best basketball of his 13-year NBA career averaging 15.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. Smith had an incredible impact all over the court and proved invaluable to his mediocre Hawks teams.

While Smith never made an All-Star team, he did however make an All-Defensive team in 2009-10. Josh Smith’s impact on both ends of the floor has become somewhat underrated over the years due to the fact that the final 4 seasons of his career were abysmal.

Even though Josh Smith didn’t win a lot with the Hawks and his post-Hawks career was disappointing, Smith was still an awesome Hawks player to watch. He was incredibly exciting and super talented. That, paired with his impressive statistics make him a no-brainer for the All-Hawks third-team.
