3. Kevin Love

It’s still surprising that Kevin Love wasn’t traded at February’s trade deadline, however, it’s almost a guarantee that he would still like to find a new home. The Atlanta Hawks could certainly be that new home.

This seems like a trade that may not require any additional draft assets which is a positive for the Hawks. The Cavaliers would likely be content flipping a disgruntled Kevin Love for Capela and Dedmon, however, would the Hawks?

At this point in their careers, Kevin Love is only a marginal upgrade from Clint Capela in my opinion. And on the defensive end, Love would be a massive downgrade. Similar to the Bradley Beal trade, a trade for Kevin Love would only make this terrible Hawks defense even worse.

Thus, if the Hawks wanted to go all-in on being one of the best offenses in the league, a trade for Kevin Love would make sense. However, if they want to be even a league-average defense, this trade makes zero sense.

The only positive of this trade is that it doesn’t require the Hawks to give up very much in terms of young players and draft assets. Thus, if the Hawks are looking for a low-risk, short-term upgrade, Kevin Love may be their guy.

So far though, a trade for Rudy Gobert is still seeming like the most beneficial deal for the Hawks.
