Atlanta Hawks: 5 players for Cam Reddish to study during suspended play
By Nate Friesen
2. Khris Middleton
Khris Middleton is a perpetually underrated player in the grand scheme of the NBA, but his two-way ability from the wing spot is something of a rarity. Middleton has to ability, similar to Beal, to score at all levels and he also has the ability, similar to Butler, to defend the other teams best player. Middleton is definitely a guy Reddish should be watching for his well-rounded game.
Middleton ironically has a nickname on Basketball-Reference that is ‘Baby Joe Johnson’. This is interesting because as I mentioned, Cam Reddish also received the Joe Johnson comparison. And yet both Middleton and Reddish are better defenders than Joe Johnson.
Khris Middleton has also shown capable of averaging over 20 points per game which is something Reddish should be striving for at this point. Most importantly, Middleton scores his points efficiently. Middleton this season was nearly on pace for a 50/40/90 season which is obviously a historical feat.
If Reddish is able to get even remotely close to Middleton’s level of efficiency, that would be a success. And as I’ve mentioned, he could also learn a lot from Middleton defensively. Middleton is the whole package in terms of a guy Reddish should be studying.
