Bradley Beal

This is the big one. I mentioned in the intro that few players are worth a top-five pick straight up, and Beal very well may be one of those players.

The 6’3 guard would make an incredible pair with Trae Young, and the two would instantly become the league’s best offensive backcourt.

Beal is a perennial All-Star and should be in the running for an All-NBA team this season. He single-handily carried the lowly Wizards near a playoffs spot this year, averaging 30.5 points per game on nearly 23 attempts per night.

He was one of three players to average more points than Trae, and only Harden averaged more as a whole. The scoring machine doesn’t get hot – he begins the game hot and can score from anywhere throughout the full 48 minutes.

He’s so good and has so much trade value, the Hawks may have to give up a bit more than just their top pick to get their hands on Beal. Many teams will be on the phone with Washington this off-season, only driving up his price more.

Something like this could get the job done:

The Hawks give up both their picks in the 2020 draft, but hold on to their own picks in future drafts, which may be wishful thinking. They do send Oklahoma City’s 2022 first-round pick, which is lottery-protected.

Beal is a potential MVP candidate if he’s on a winning team, and just about the best backcourt companion for Trae Young. He’s worth selling the farm for if his price does rise.
