1. Teams with two All-Stars rarely miss the playoffs

Ya, that’s right. John Collins will be an All-Star in 2021.

Collins has improved drastically every single season and I don’t see that stopping next year. Collins would have had a real case to make the All-Star team this season if it wasn’t for his 25-game suspension. Assuming Collins plays in majority of the Hawks games next season, he will have a real shot at making his first All-Star appearance.

If John Collins is able to make the All-Star game next year that will help the Atlanta Hawks chances at making the playoff greatly. The last team to miss the playoffs whilst having two All-Stars on their roster was the Chicago Bulls in 2016 when Pau Gasol and Jimmy Butler made the All-Star team and finished 9th in the Eastern Conference.

Even if, worst-case scenario, John Collins and Trae Young both make the 2021 All-Star game and they finished 9th in the Eastern Conference, similar to the Bulls in 2016, that would still be a drastic improvement from this season and would be encouraging for the future.

A lot of the Atlanta Hawks future success is dependent upon how good John Collins can get so let’s hope he’s able to make his first All-Star appearance sooner rather than later.
