Recapping the latest Hawks Talon Gaming Club series.

The Hawks Talon Gaming Club handled Grizz Gaming on Wednesday night after having to compete in their first game three since the NBA 2K League season started.

The team came out of game one with a 74-63 win, balanced scoring, and a strong momentum heading into the second game of the series. However, due to technical difficulties, game two was interrupted and had to be restarted in compliance with the remote play rules.

After getting back on the sticks, Vandy began to heat up late in the 4th quarter and took off on an 11-2 run for the Grizz. Game two went down to the wire as BP was held to only 17 points, on a mere 30% FG accuracy, and completely shut out at the 3-point arch. Despite the lack of offensive success, the Hawks were able to produce on defense and keep the game close with an ultimate 60-54 loss in game two.

The Hawks entered their first game three of the season locked in and ready to close out the series with a regular-season win.

“We came out with a lot of intensity in that game three. We felt like we were in a good spot in game two and then we had a crash happen…so it kind of interrupted the game but we were able to get started back up and we ended up losing that game so we took a few minutes to regroup and they bounced back really good.” Hawks Talon Gaming Club’s Head Coach Wesley Acuff said.

Kel, who was facing his former team for the first time, had a season-high of 27 points in game one and recharged in game three, posting 24 points and two assists.

“I just felt like I had a point to prove, especially after not being retained…I’m just glad we could beat them and I’m just happy about the win in general, I don’t really care who it is…This one just kinda felt a little more special.” Kel said.

“In this series against Kel’s former team, our team rallied behind his composure and leadership, and we are proud of everyone’s contributions which helped us come away with a win,” Acuff said.

With the help of a whopping 34 point and six steal performance from the “Dribble God”, BP, and a lock-down defensive effort that held the opposing PG Vandy to only 15 points, the Hawks claimed the win 75-57.

The team is now 2-1 and is set to tip-off against Pacers Gaming on Friday night.

“The Pacers are a really good team, Coach is a great coach over there…It’s going to be another fight. We’re gaining more confidence and more chemistry every game we play and every time we practice so I feel good about the matchup but definitely you’re going to see the intensity that we’ve been bringing. We’re going to keep our foot on the gas and we’re focused on one game at a time and right now the Pacers are the next game up. That’s all we’re locked in on…how to take the Pacers down.” Acuff concluded.
