NBA Mock Draft 4.0 — Warriors Take Wiseman First, Hawks grab LaMelo
By Dallin Duffy
The contending Celtics have three picks in the first round currently, which is almost certain to change before the October draft. With whatever picks Boston does use, they’ll likely be looking for players who can come in and contribute right away, which Saddiq Bey can certainly do.
Bey is someone who knew his role exactly in college and was never asked to do much outside of shoot the three and defend the perimeter. He excelled in those categories, shooting 45 percent from deep and was a solid option defensively all year for the Wildcats.
The problem is the flexibility to his offensive game, as Bey likely do much than stand on the arch ready to catch-and-shoot. For a team like Boston that has a roster full of stars and future stars, it’s not as much of an issue, but his one-note style of play will keep him from going too high in the draft.
The Sophomore knows how to win and has hit his fair share of clutch shots in college. It’s easy to see him as a role player in the NBA for years to come.
