Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. PF/C, Washington. 20. Brooklyn Nets (via Philadelphia). Isaiah Stewart. player. 147

The Nets need to fill their roster to supplement stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant and don’t have much money to do so. They need to hit on this pick, and if they’re somehow able to trade up a few spots to take a more slam-dunk type pick, they probably should.

Here they get Stewart, the Washington big man who split pundit opinions all season. Some see his bruising, unspectacular style of play among the most pro-ready in the draft, while others struggle to find his fit in the modern NBA.

The 19-year-old does feature an old-school bag of tricks on offense and a physical brand of defense that while effective, lacks the switchability usually needed in the modern, positionless NBA.

Brooklyn already has two interior defenders in Jarret Allen and DeAndre Jordan, but with Irving and Durant on the outside, having a frontcourt full of sturdy rim-protectors isn’t such a bad idea.

Stewart, who can play both the four and five, is likely a near-finished product, a product that might be asked to play a good amount of minutes next season.
