NBA Mock Draft 4.0 — Warriors Take Wiseman First, Hawks grab LaMelo
By Dallin Duffy
Maledon has made it clear he wants to come to the states next season, so while he might not be a ‘euro stash’, he could be headed straight to the G-League if a team like the Celtics takes him.
The point guard lacks the star upside that international picks usually do, with Maledon’s potential being more suited to the elite role player role than a long-term starter.
He has a great feel for the game at just 18 (19 later this month) and will be a good playmaker at the next level. That IQ translates to the defensive side of the ball as well and Maledon should be a competent defender despite his less-than-ideal size.
Whether or not he can be an efficient scorer will be the biggest question surrounding the French guard, with Maledon yet to show consistency shooting or slashing. If he can add a jumper, he’d be one of the most well-rounded guards in the draft.
